DeviantART Muro

DeviantART Muro Online Application

DevianART Muro is the latest innovation from deviantART , the largest community of artists worldwide. It was released a few days ago in celebration with deviantART’s 10th year anniversary  as an added feature to the members.

So what does it do ?

It lets you create digital works of art in your own browser with a bunch of cool features.

First , you need visit the muro website. Only deviantart members can submit their artworks to the deviantart gallery.

It’s a free html 5 drawing app - Supports all html 5 compatible browsers including the Ipad.

21 brushes  uniquely programmed – Some brushes needs to unlocked through deviantart’s point system : you can get points if you someone gives you , in contests etc , or if you purchase them. I wished Adobe Fireworks would implement some of these brushes someday, lol.

Basic and Pro Modes - In the pro mode , you can zoom it and zoom out of the canvas ,  change the opacity of the background layer and even add or delete layers.

Submit drawings directly to the deviantART gallery - You can also export the artwork as an image , currently only the .jpeg format is supported.

Works with WACOM - You need to download the plugin before you can use it.

Supports Filters - Filters like motion blur , laplacian , emboss , lighten , darken , over 22 filters you can choose from.

Basic Drawing Tools – Like draw, eraser, flood fill , eye dropper , color wheel tools supports opacity , size, softness , threshold and effect options.

Use deviantART Muro for comments – You can use your digital drawings as comments to the artworks,  profile pages and more.

New features and functions will be added in the coming months – I hope they could put a text tool , image import , stroke and fill features or basic drawing shapes and both vector and bitmaps.

Is this the future for graphic design / image editing programs ?

You bet it ! I can see Muro being used by web designers , digital artists or image editors for their projects. In 5 years or more, who knows if we need to install design applications when we can do everything online just like the Muro.

Imagine an adobe fireworks web application in the near future ? =)  Please comment below.

I had one of those digital tablets and pens things, I’d jump at the chance..but as it stands, I don’t have the best control with my touch pad on my laptop

Huh. It’s pretty cool. Just screwing around gave me some art-looking-ish result. I can’t wait to try this with a tablet pen (because mine is missing D=)
